COMMENDATIONS GALORE FOR COMPT SHUAIBU AS HE HANDS OVER TO COMPT OJO @ IDIROKO
It was commendations galore at the Ogun 1 command in Idiroko today as trade facilitators, importers, exporters and border communities described the out going Area controller as a man with the Midas touch in bringing peace and stability at the border thereby ensuring a zero tolerance on violence which hitherto claimed several lives and casualties before his assumption of office in September last year.
Traditional rulers, top military brass ,journalists as well as officers were united that ‘the result of hard work is to be given more sensitive responsibilities like Comptroller AB Shuaibu has been given.
They eulogized him as humble, thorough, and ‘a man who makes sense out of nonsense.
At the handing over ceremony today to his successor, the outgoing controller who appreciated God for the grace of the moment and for the CGC for giving him the opportunity to serve, provided an overview of his tour of duty as the Area controller of the esteemed command.
According to him, the command experienced substantial increase in revenue generation, witnessed enhanced anti smuggling exploits with zero casualties and added value to the overall development of the command.
In addition, he stated that the command engaged in laudable Corporate social responsibility, noting that these achievements would not have been possible without the the unwavering support of the customs Headquarters, the dedicated efforts of critical stakeholders.
‘I urge our officers to intensify their efforts and extend maximum support and cooperation to the incoming administration to sustain the tempo of the command’s performance’
Shuaibu also appealed for the steadfast support of critical stakeholders for the new Area controller. ‘I extend my gratitude to Almighty Allah and to all of you for your cooperation and patience throughout my tour of duty
I especially acknowledge the impartiality of the news coverage provided by the esteemed members of the press’ he deposed. He congratulated the new controller , Mr James Folorunsho Ojo on his appointment.
‘Your appointment speaks volume of your capabilities, and we have every confidence that you will lead with integrity, vision and excellence. As you assume your new responsibilities, know that you have the unwavering support of your colleagues and the trust of those you now lead.
He appreciated officers and men of the command, Heads of security agencies within and outside the border, traditional institutions, community leaders, and youths for the good and memorable working relationship enjoyed together.
ACHIEVEMENTS OF COMPTROLLER AB SHUAIBU, CUSTOMS AREA CONTROLLER OGUN 1 COMMAND IDIROKO SINCE ASSUMPTION OF OFFICE
1. The CAC took over the mantle of leadership of Ogun 1 Command on 18 Sep 23, and since then, the Command has experienced massive transformation.
2. On the night of his assumption of office, the Command recorded a spectacular seizure of vehicles loaded with smuggled bags of imported rice and large quantity of cannabis sativa, among others. This was achieved through credible intelligence. The magnitude of the seizure drew the attention of the CGC. The CGC was highly impressed and this brought him to Ogun State to conduct a press conference and showcased the seizures.
3. Within a very short time, also, the CAC reduced the Command’s checkpoints of about 32 to 5 along the Idiroko – Owode corridor. This was done to sanitize the road and enhance trade facilitation.
4. Under his noble administration, the Command waged war against campboys illegal operations on the road.
5. The furniture in the CAC’s office was replaced and the administrative block belonging to the Command and which equally housed some of our stakeholders were renovated.
6. The power generating set provided by the NCS HQ was installed and enjoys regular maintenance. This serves as benefit to both the Command and our stakeholders.
7. The power outage within the senior and junior barracks was restored while the junior barracks’ transformer was rehabilitated.
8. In anticipation of massive and free flow of genuine trade, the CAC commenced the construction of trailer park and examination bay.
9. Light breakfast such as tea and biscuit are being provided every day as refreshment for officers at the Command’s HQ. Provision for daily free 2 square meal was also made for Men on guard duties at different units and formations.
10. The CAC conduct a daily morning briefing where issues concerning the activities of the Command were addressed as they occur.
11. To God be the glory, the Command has been contributing meaningfully to the welfare of sister agencies.
12. The status of the Command Medical Center was upgraded by equipping it with medications and other necessities.
13. The Officers’ Mess food has been subsidized for Officers to benefit.
14. The Command carried out some Corporate Social Responsibilities (CSR), some of which include Art for Economic Development Programme aimed at promoting economic development through art and Cloth a Child Initiative which foster distribution of uniforms and writing materials to indigent primary school pupils.
15. In collaboration with the Ipokia Youth Forum, the Command organized a sensitization programme against smuggling activities.
16. The CAC spearheaded an inter-border security meeting to address some security challenges and it ended up with peaceful resolution.
17. The CAC maintains a robust relationship with all the security agencies in the State.
18. He facilitated the deployment of Army personnel to the Command to complement its workforce in securing the Service’s critical facilities.
19. Under the able leadership of Comptroller AB Shuaibu, the Command organized a heartwarming and memorable galla and award night party. During the party, the CAC presented a commendation award to all the Command’s Units, Border Stations and Patrol teams, in recognition of everyone’s contribution to the achievements recorded by the Command in the year 2023.
20. Above all, the CAC has been making great impact in contributing to the achievements of the Service in line with the policy thrust of the CGC: Consolidation, Innovation and Collaboration.
In his own speech, the new Area controller, Compt Ojo also congratulated his predecessor for all the laudable achievements he recorded in so short a time
He commended Shuaibu’s dedication to duty, commitment and leadership skill .
‘Your contributions have undoubtedly left an indelible mark on this command and your guidance has been invaluable.
‘We thank you for your service and wish you the very best in your new assignment’
He however, used the opportunity to solicit the unflinching support and cooperation of members of the management team and the entire officers and men of the command as well as esteemed stakeholders across the border.
‘As we witness this transition today, let us reaffirm our collective commitment to the ideals and objectives that define our command. Let us pledge to work hand in hand, fostering teamwork, communication and collaboration at every turn
