Compt Haniel Hadison during his book launch

The Customs management on Wednesday unveiled a book entitled ‘Regimentation and Ethics of The Nigeria Customs Service’ Authored by an intellectual, Comptroller Haniel Hadison, who doubles as the Deputy Commandant and Director of Studies at the Nigeria Customs Command and Staff College, Gwagwalada, the book has been described as a ‘thoughtful contribution to the Service’s institutional history, professional development and ethical renewal’

It examined the role of discipline, regimentation, leadership, tradition , and ethical conduct in building a professional, effective Service worthy of public trust.

According to the National Public Relations officer, Deputy Compt Abdullahi Maiwada, PhD drawing extensively from Comptroller Hadison’s experience and exposure to military and paramilitary institutions, the book documents how important regimental traditions and practices were introduced and adapted within the NCS, including Regimental Dinner Nights, Champion Guard drills, Sword Drills and Quarter Guard formations.

More importantly, the book goes beyond ceremonial traditions. It presents a strong argument for a culture in which officers do not merely enforce rules but consciously live by the values they represent. It offers practical reflections on ethical leadership, institutional accountability, discipline, and every officer’s responsibility to contribute to the Service’s continued development.

This publication represents a commendable example of giving back to the system. It captures knowledge and institutional experience that can serve as a valuable resource for serving officers, cadets, future leaders, researchers and stakeholders interested in the evolution and professionalisation of the NCS.

Officers and men are therefore encouraged to read and engage with Regimentation and Ethics of the Service. Beyond being a book, it is a record of institutional experience, a reflection on our traditions and a call to uphold the discipline, integrity and professionalism upon which the Service must continue to build.

Copies of the book will be made available to all Commands and formations of the NCS for easy access to officers and men.

Let us read. Let us learn. Let us uphold the values of the Service.
