FELIX KUMUYI EMERGES NEW PRESIDENT OF LEAGUE OF MARITIME EDITORS; WITH NEW EXCO INAUGURATED

The League of Maritime Editors (LOME) has elected a new executive to run the affairs of the association in the next two years.

The new executive which is led by the former Secretary of LOME, Mr Felix Kumuyi, emerged during the association’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) held in Victoria Island, Lagos.

With the election, Kumuyi, who was former Secretary General of LOME, takes over from the former President, Mrs Remi Itie.

Among members of the new executive include Mr Francis Ugwoke who was elected as Vice President, Mr Eguono Odjegba – Secretary General.

Others are Mr Tony Ohakwe – Treasurer, Mr Shola Mekusi – Financial Secretary/Welfare Officer and Mr Okey Iroegbu – Public Relations Officer.

The Returning Officer for the election was Mr Funso Olojo, a senior maritime journalist.

In his acceptance speech after the election, Kumuyi thanked members for the confidence in choosing him to lead the association.

Kumuyi promised that he and his executive will work hard to deliver on the mandate of the association.

“I am deeply honoured by the confidence reposed in me and other members of Executive Committee. I do not take this mandate for granted. Rather, I see it as a call to service, a call to build on the achievements of those who came before us, and a call to reposition the League for greater relevance, visibility and influence within Nigeria’s maritime sector”, he said.

Members of the new executive were sworn in on Thursday at the end of the seminar/AGM organised in Victoria Island, Lagos.
