CUSTOMS BOARD TO APPROVE NEW MEMBERS OF MANAGEMENT SEPT 2ND; AS BOMODI, ORBIH, OLOMU, SHUAIBU, DANIYAN & OLADEJI MAKE DCG/ACG LIST

From Tuesday next week, September 2nd precisely, soon after the crucial meeting of the Customs Board, chaired by the Finance minister, Wale Edun, new faces will emerge as members of the Customs management, while few others will be joggled .
After what looked like a long drawn consideration and the possible protests that may ensue, the federal government jettisoned the subterranean lobbying for the extension of the service of few management staff whose tenures expires officially on August 31st 2025.
Before now, some extensions have been granted by the government to help stabilize the service and close the yawning gap occassioned by its inability to promote some officers who stagnated on same rank for as long as nine years.

Impeccable sources disclosed that in the new changes, Assistant Comptroller General (ACG) Timi Bomodi will now be drafted to take full charge as Deputy Comptroller General (DCG) in charge of Enforcement, Investigations & Inspections (E, I&I), thereby replacing retiring DCG OA Alajogun, fsi.
Anti-smuggling expert, Comptroller AB Shuaibu will come in handy as ACG in charge of Enforcement, I&I. Charles Orbih, the Co-ordinator of Zone A will quickly move in to take the position of DCG in charge of Finance, Administration & Technical services (FATS), replacing DCG Jibo who just retired.

New Assistant Comptrollers General (ACGs) who have been recommended for approval by the Customs Board at the said meeting include two technocrats-Comptrollers Babatunde Olomu, fsi, PhD, of Premier command Apapa and Architect Daniyan of the PTML command.
Also Compt Olaniyan in charge of the Scanning unit is also moved up, as well as Compt Babandede of Onne customs command. Compt Alkali of the Federal Operations Unit, zone B has been penciled down to replace him.

All things being equal, Compt Osoba in charge of the Customs Intelligence Unit (CIU) will be drafted to Apapa customs command as its new helmsman. Comptroller IK Oladeji will now superintend over the Operation Whirlwind as its new National Co-ordinator.
This new management shake up was said not to have come so easy as so many considerations were taken to save the integrity of the service which has gotten some bashing from industry operators and Nigerians alike arising from the snippets that not a few officers were manipulating the system to perpetuate themselves in office.

Thank you
