NYSC COORDINATOR, FIRE SERVICE BOSS VISIT KWARA CUSTOMS AREA CONTROLLER
The Ag. Customs Area Controller, Kwara Command of the Nigeria Customs Service, Deputy Comptroller of Customs Najeem Akanmu Ogundeyi. on Wednesday, 12 August 2026, played host to the State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Kwara State, Mr Musa Tukur Kafarda, and the Ag. State Controller of the Federal Fire Service (FFS), Kwara State, Assistant Controller of Fire Ibrahim Adisa, who paid separate courtesy visits to the Command Headquarters, Ilorin.
Mr Kafarda arrived first, at about 11:00hrs, where he commended the Command’s existing support for corps members and appealed for continued collaboration, noting that no fewer than 1,500 corps members are camped in each stream of the ongoing orientation exercise in the state. He urged the Command to extend some of its welfare facilities to corps members during their stay, and announced plans for a free medical outreach at the Customs Barracks, to be manned by NYSC medical personnel.
Responding, the Ag. Customs Area Controller welcomed the gesture and pledged the Command’s continued support for the Scheme. He informed the Coordinator that the Command’s newly completed hospital facility only awaits the deployment of medical personnel from Nigeria Customs Service Headquarters to become fully operational.
Assistant Controller of Fire, Ibrahim Adisa arrived later, at about 13:30hrs, on what he described as marking his arrival as the new boss of the Federal Fire Service in the state as well as familiarization visit to strengthen the long-standing synergy between the Federal Fire Service and the Nigeria Customs Service. Before departing, he took a moment to address officers and men of the Command on basic fire safety practices, urging caution in the handling of electrical appliances and combustible materials around Customs offices, warehouses, and residential quarters.
The Ag. Customs Area Controller thanked the Fire Controller for the safety prevention interactions, describing it as both timely and necessary, and reaffirmed the Command’s readiness to work hand in hand with the Federal Fire Service on matters regarding to fire prevention and emergency response.
DC Ogundeyi commended both agencies for the visits, describing them as a reflection of the strong inter-agency relationship enjoyed by the Command, and reiterated the Kwara Area Command’s commitment to supporting initiatives that benefit young Nigerians and promote public safety.
