ACG UMOH COMMENDS KWARA CUSTOMS LEADERSHIP, URGES OFFICERS TO MAINTAIN HIGH PROFESSIONALISM
The Assistant Comptroller-General of Customs (ACG) and Zonal Coordinator for Zone ‘B’, Nsikan Patrick Umoh, has commended the leadership and personnel of the Kwara Area Command for their exemplary conduct, discipline, and dedication to duty.
ACG Umoh gave the commendation on Monday, 10 August 2026, during an official oversight visit to the Command’s Headquarters in Ilorin, Kwara State, as part of her ongoing tour of operational commands within Zone ‘B’.
Addressing officers and men of the Command, the Zonal Coordinator revealed that since assuming office, her headquarters had not received a single adverse report against the Kwara Area Command. She noted that this clean operational record reflects the high level of professionalism and integrity embedded in the Command’s daily operations.
Delivering the goodwill message of the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, ACG Umoh charged officers to remain responsible in their conduct both on and off duty. She strictly cautioned personnel against involvement in illicit drugs and sharp practices, urging them to safeguard the core values of the Service. Furthermore, she encouraged officers to foster unity as a family working toward a shared goal, reassuring them of the continuous support of both Zonal and Service Headquarters.
Earlier in the event, the Acting Area Controller, Deputy Comptroller N.A. Ogundeyi, delivered a welcome address outlining the key achievements, operational milestones, and administrative successes recorded by the Command under his leadership.
As part of the visit, the Zonal Coordinator hosted an interactive session with key trade stakeholders, including leadership from freight forwarding associations, the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN), and representatives from major excise factories, including ITC and SANICA.
During the engagement, ACG Umoh praised the robust synergy between the Command and the trading community. She addressed stakeholder concerns regarding cargo clearance procedures, examination timelines, and regional trade competitiveness, providing clear and detailed responses that were warmly received by the trade representatives.
The visit concluded with a facility tour, during which ACG Umoh inspected the Command’s administrative offices, warehouse, and residential barracks, expressing satisfaction with the level of order, environmental cleanliness, and discipline observed.
