WHAT GOD CANNOT DO, DOES NOT EXIST; AS DCG ALAJOGUN EULOGISES CG ADENIYI FOR STANDING FIRM FOR JUSTICE & TRANSPARENCY IN CUSTOMS PROMOTIONS
Newly elevated top echelon staff of the Nigeria customs service have enlisted to join hands with the Comptroller General, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, to deliver uncommon results for the second largest revenue generating agency.
Brand new Deputy Comptroller General (DCG) in charge of Enforcement, Barrister OA Alajogun, fsi deposed at the decoration of the officers yesterday, while commending the Customs Boss for making transparency in the promotion and elevation of officers his cornerstone.
Speaking on behalf of his colleagues who were also decorated with him, Alajogun who almost went emotional stated that, perhaps, if not for the Comptroller General’s spirit of fairness and equity, ‘some of us will not be standing here today celebrating the appointments to these ranks’. He called out the immediate past administration for several injustices against some of the service’s workforce.
‘Never again should the service experience such flagrant abuse of process and systemic bastardisation of the service’s regimental nature as bestowed on us in the immediate past.
I want to specially thank the Customs Comptroller General for righting the wrongs that were viciously perpetrated in the last administration’ Alajogun stressed.
The Deputy Comptroller General pointed out that whenever the history of the service will be written especially with regards to the stewardship of the various Comptroller Generals, ‘we have no doubt that history will be kind to this current CG. History will be kind to you for standing on the side of truth, fairness and good conscience’
Having said that, he charged his colleagues who are newly promoted, thus, ‘for those of us who are beneficiaries of your large heart and transparency today, we will forever be grateful’
As the saying goes, to whom much is given, much is expected and the reward of hardwork they say, is more work’
On behalf of himself and his colleagues, he pledged untainted loyalty, unwavering commitment to duty and unparalleled dedication to service.
‘With an uncommon CGC, we will strive to build an uncommon management team, with a view to achieving uncommon goals.
What we have witnessed today is a confirmation that what God can not do, does not exist’.
Deputy Comptroller General OA Alajogun, fsi was born in 1965. He has a degree in Law.
During his decades of stint in the customs service, he has traversed several departments where he equally excelled.
He has supritended as Area controller of Delta/Edo command as well as Adamawa/Taraba command.
He also was the immediate past Assistant Comptroller General (ACG) in charge of Headquarters before his recent elevation as Deputy Comptroller General.
No doubt Alajogun remains one of the finest officers of the service who abhors injustice and corruption in all ramifications.
NIGERIA CUSTOMS SERVICE BOARD CONFIRMS APPOINTMENT OF 2 DCGs, 5 ACGs, APPROVES THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A NEW ICT DEPARTMENT
The Nigeria Customs Service Board (NCSB) in its 60th Regular Meeting on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, confirmed the appointment of two (2) Deputy Comptroller-Generals of Customs (DCGs) and five (5) Assistant Comptroller-Generals of Customs (ACGs). The meeting, chaired by the Honourable Minister of Finance and Coordinating Economy, Mr. Wale Edun, was held at the new corporate headquarters of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) in Maitama, Abuja.
The newly confirmed appointments as Deputy Comptroller-Generals of Customs (DCGs) are OA Alajogun and KI Adeola. While Assistant Comptroller Generals are IG Umar, MM Tilley-Gyado, BA Makinde, OA Salefu and T Bomodi. The appointments were made in response to the statutory retirement of senior officers and are in full alignment with the Federal Character Policy, as outlined in Section 14(4) of the Nigeria Customs Service Act, 2023.
In addition, the Board approved the resolution from its 59th Regular Meeting held on May 14, 2024, to upgrade the ICT Unit to a full-fledged department. This strategic upgrade is vital to the ongoing modernisation efforts within the NCS.
Similarly, DCG KI ADEOLA has been appointed as the substantive Deputy Comptroller-General in charge of the newly upgraded ICT-Modernisation Department. She will be supported by an Assistant Comptroller-General and five (5) Comptrollers to ensure the successful implementation of ICT initiatives aimed at enhancing the Service’s operational efficiency and digital transformation.
The Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR, extended his congratulations to the newly appointed. He emphasized the need for them to double their efforts in carrying out the critical roles of revenue generation, trade facilitation, and the suppression of smuggling to bolster Nigeria’s socio-economic development.
