CUSTOMS MGT APPROVES 2026 PROMOTION EXERCISE; AS 5,550 OFFICERS QUALIFY TO WRITE EXAMINATION

Following the approval of the Board of the Nigeria Customs Service, no less than 5,560 personnel of the agency have been declared eligible for the 2026 promotion exercise.
At least 284 Deputy Comptrollers, 633 Assistant Comptrollers and 242 Chief Superintendent, including 525 Deputy Supritendents are amongst those confirmed for exercise.
‘All officers of the rank of Deputy Comptrollers, with effective date of January 1st, 2025, or earlier are eligible to sit for the exercise’
In the same vein, all Assistant Comptrollers with effective date of January 1st, 2024, or earlier are to participate in the exercise.
A restricted circular dated September 24th, 2026, endorsed by the Assistant Comptroller General (ACG) Frank Onyeka, noted further that; ‘due to the current manpower imbalance and available vacancies, personnel of the rank of superintendents of customs as well as customs Assistants 1 will not participate in the exercise.
The distinguished ACG noted that personnel seeking promotion to the rank of ASC11 and above must possess a minimum qualification of HND or its equivalent, as stipulated in the NCS scheme of service.
The circular with reference NCS/ABJ/HRD/185/C/Vol.11, advised that any observed errors and complaints arising from the published details should reach the office of dcg-hrd@customs.gov.ng on or before October 7, 2026.
