D/COMPT ADIGUN MEASURES UP; GENERATES N19.4 BILLION IN JUNE, SHOWCASES N809 MILLION SEIZED EXPIRED DISPOSABLE VAPES @ KLT
Since his assumption of office, about eight months ago, the Acting Controller of the Kirikiri Lighter Terminal (KLT), Deputy Comptroller Bolaji Adigun has left no one in doubt that he is fully in charge, in terms of professionalism, discipline, revenue generation, enforcement and seamless trade facilitation.
The Command’s revenue, as a result, has continued to shore up, owing to his mastery of the mandates given to him by the Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, PhD, MFR.
No wonder he, as usual, cruised beyond his revenue target for the month of June , 2026, hitting more than N19.4 billion, as against the N14,363,621,664.35 generated in the corresponding period of June last year.
The Customs Area Controller highlighted the Command’s revenue performance for June 2026 and the interception of expired disposable vape during a media briefing held at the Command on Thursday 30th July, 2026. He stated that the Command remains committed to its statutory responsibilities of revenue generation, trade facilitation, and enforcement activities, adding that the briefing was an opportunity to present the Command’s performance and highlight significant achievement recorded in the Enforcement unit.
He announced that the Kirikiri Lighter Terminal Area Command generated a total revenue of Nineteen Billion, Four Hundred and Four Million, Nine Hundred and Twenty Five Thousand, One Hundred and Three Naira, and Fifty Three Kobo only (₦19,404,925,103.53) in the month of June 2026, as against the total sum of Fourteen Billion, Three Hundred and Sixty Three Million, Six Hundred and Twenty One Thousand, Six Hundred and Sixty Four Naira, and Thirty Five Kobo only (₦14,363,621,664.35) generated in the corresponding period of June 2025. This reflects an increase of Five Billion, Forty One Thousand, Three Hundred and Three Thousand, Four Hundred and Thirty Nine Naira, and Eighteen Kobo only (₦5,041,303,439.18), representing a Thirty Five Percent (35%) increase. He attributed the achievement to the dedication of officers and men of the Command, improved stakeholder compliance, enhanced trade facilitation, and the deployment of intelligence-driven strategies.
He noted that while the Command remains committed to facilitating legitimate trade and maximizing revenue generation, it is equally firm in its enforcement measures aimed at protecting the nation’s economy and safeguarding the wellbeing of Nigerians. In furtherance of this mandate, officers of the Kirikiri Lighter Terminal Area Command, through diligent cargo examination, intercepted a 40-foot container with container number TIIU4739360 containing expired disposable vape with a total Duty Paid Value (DPV) of Eight Hundred and Nine Million, Six Hundred and Ninety Eight Thousand, Seven Hundred and Sixty One Naira only (₦809,698,761).
He disclosed that physical examination of the container revealed Eighteen (18) pallets of disposable vape products. Each pallet contained Sixty (60) cartons, with some cartons containing Twenty (20) and Forty (40) packs respectively. Each pack contained Ten (10) pieces, bringing the total quantity to Four Hundred and Eighty Four (484) cartons, equivalent to One Hundred and Eighty Two Thousand, Three Hundred and Forty (182,340) pieces. Further examination established that the products had different expiry dates of 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025, and 2026 respectively, rendering them unfit for use and posing a potential risk to public health. He also said that in line with established procedures and the Command’s commitment to inter-agency collaboration, the Command has commenced the process of handing over the seized items to the appropriate government agency for further regulatory action and proper disposal.
The Acting Customs Area Controller noted that the interception demonstrates the vigilance, professionalism, and commitment of the officers and men of the Kirikiri Lighter Terminal Area Command in enforcing extant laws and preventing unsafe and non-compliant goods from entering the Nigerian market. He urged importers, licensed customs agents, and other stakeholders to ensure strict compliance with all applicable import regulations, He also encouraged licensed customs agents and importers to take advantage of the Nigeria Customs Service’s Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) Programme and the Advance Ruling system, which are designed to promote trade facilitation, enhance compliance, provide greater predictability in customs processes, and improve the ease of doing business. He also assured that the Kirikiri Lighter Terminal Area Command will continue to deploy intelligence-driven operations, effective risk management and stringent cargo examination procedures to detect and intercept expired, falsely declared, prohibited, and other non-compliant goods while contributing to national economic growth, public health, and security.

The Acting CAC further appreciated stakeholders, including licensed customs agents, terminal operators, importers and the compliant trading community, for their cooperation and adherence to extant laws and regulations. He equally acknowledged the invaluable support of partner government agencies whose collaborations strengthen collective efforts in protecting the nation’s economy, securing borders, and safeguarding public health. Finally, he extended appreciation to members of the press for their professionalism, objective reportage, and sustained partnership in keeping the public informed about the activities of the Nigeria Customs Service.
