

COMPT GAMBO TAKES OFF IN GRAND STYLE; ANNOUNCES A N77.8 BILLION REVENUE IN MAIDEN MEDIA BRIEFING


More than N77.8 billion was generated as revenue by the Oyo/Osun customs command in the last 10 months of this year.
In his maiden media briefing today, the Area Controller, Compt Gambo Iyere Aliyu disclosed that the figure represents 17.5 percent increase when compared to N64,269,394,207.65 collected during same period last year.
‘This figure represents a commendable level of commitment by our officers despite prevailing economic challenges’ Gambo noted that it also demonstrates the unwavering dedication to achieving and surpassing the monthly set target by the service.

In the aspect of anti-smuggling activities, the Command recorded the seizures of the underlisted prohibited items within the period covering 4th June 2025 to 31st October 2025.

Cannabis Sativa 79 Wraps, ₦2,687,876.25. 9.Unregistered various Pharmaceuticals, ₦1,997,524.00. 10. The Total Duty Paid Value (DPV) of these seizures is ₦818,789,310.25 (Eight hundred Eighteen Million, Seven Hundred and Eighty-Nine Thousand, Three Hundred and Ten Naira, Twenty-Five Kobo.
He said,In Some of the cases, where defendants were arrested with respect to the seizures, the defendants have been charged to the Federal High Court where they are being prosecuted in line with the provisions of the Nigeria Customs Service Act 2023.
According to him, the Command recognizes that effective Customs administration thrives on collaboration. To this end, we have continued to deepen our engagement with critical stakeholders including traditional institutions, sister security agencies, business communities, and the media.

Recently, they embarked on familiarization visits to key stakeholders within the Command’s area of responsibility to foster stronger partnerships and enhance mutual understanding. The Command remains committed to maintaining open channels of communication to ensure seamless trade facilitation and compliance with Customs regulations.
