In line with the recent redeployment of Area Controllers and Heads of Units approved by the Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, dsm, fnipr, psc(+), Comptroller Olusola Olukemi Akingbade has officially assumed duty as the new Customs Area Controller of Ogun II Command. She takes over from Comptroller A.O.B. Alade (rtd), who bowed out of active service.

The handing-over ceremony, held at the Command Headquarters in Abeokuta, witnessed an atmosphere of camaraderie as Comptroller Alade commended the officers of the Command and urged them to extend maximum cooperation to his successor.

“May I call on officers to redouble their efforts and give the incoming administration maximum support and cooperation to sustain the performance tempo of the Command. In a similar vein, I wish to solicit the unflinching support of our critical stakeholders for the new Area Controller,” Alade said.

In her maiden address, Comptroller Akingbade expressed appreciation to the Comptroller General for finding her worthy of the posting. She commended her predecessor’s achievements, describing him as an articulate and result-oriented leader, and assured stakeholders of her commitment to sustaining and surpassing the Command’s records.

“I am a team player, I seek total cooperation of all stakeholders to succeed. We must work together and Nigeria must move forward,” she stated.

Akingbade pledged to improve revenue collection and enhance trade facilitation within the Command’s Area of Responsibility (AoR), stressing that collaboration with stakeholders would remain central to her leadership.

The ceremony marked a smooth transfer of leadership, with officers and stakeholders pledging their support to the new Customs Area Controller.

This was contained in a press statement signed by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSC Dauda Adamu, on Thursday, 4th September, 2025.
