The Enugu/Anambra/Ebonyi Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service held a formal Handing Over and Taking Over Ceremony today, marking the exchange of baton between the outgoing Controller, Compt. Comfort Senas Ukpanah (Rtd) and Comptroller F. A. Bodunde.
In her valedictory address, the outgoing Controller, Comptroller Comfort Senas Ukpanah (Rtd), expressed profound gratitude to Almighty God for a fruitful and impactful tenure. Despite initial concerns about security upon her arrival in Enugu, she noted with joy that her tenure was peaceful and devoid of major incidents. Comptroller Ukpanah (Rtd) highlighted a significant milestone—the attainment of an unprecedented revenue target—a success she attributed to the dedication, professionalism, and teamwork of officers/Men of the Command. She urged personnel to uphold integrity, prioritize the Service’s interests above personal gain, and sustain the collective spirit that underpinned their achievements.

The incoming Controller, Comptroller FA. Bodunde, expressed delight and humility in succeeding her colleague, whom she described as a sister, mentor, and coach. She pledged to build on existing successes, aligning with the Comptroller-General of Customs’ mantra of Collaboration, Cooperation, and Innovation. Comptroller Bodunde emphasized that revenue generation and trade facilitation are the Service’s foremost priorities, stressing that “the success of one is the success of all.” She called on officers to work in synergy, ensure transparency in records, and uphold professionalism to strengthen the Command’s operational efficiency. The new Area Controller also charged officers to remain brand ambassadors of the Service by demonstrating integrity, discipline, and commitment to duty.

Comptroller Bodunde commended the Customs management for its sustained support in welfare and promotions and appreciated her predecessor’s laudable contributions. She concluded by soliciting the cooperation of officers/men of the Command to elevate the Command to greater heights and enhance its revenue profile.
