ACG OLOMU ANNOUNCES N1.808 TRILLION REVENUE IN 8 MONTHS; AS OFFICERS GIVE HIM A SURPRISE EARLY MORNING RECEPTION TODAY

It was Joy unlimited at the Apapa Customs command today as members of the rank and file surprised the out-going Area Controller, Babatunde Olomu, fsi, PhD, with a reception to celebrate his elevation to the rank of Assistant Comptroller General (ACG).
Encomiums were not in short supply as Assistant Comptroller Abubakar Usman described ACG Olomu as very hardworking, inspirational, focused and one that worked round the clock to proffer solutions to challenges. According to Usman, the new ACG can call you in the wee hours of the nite in case any issue is detected.
On behalf of the officers and men, he said their joy knew no bounds as the command has produced another ACG in the person of Dr Olomu. Other officers spoke in the same vein, wishing the man of the moment great future in his new assignment.
Responding, ACG Olomu said he was amazed with the reception and camaraderie that existed among the command’s workforce during his stint at the command.
Though, he stated that it was not a speech making event until the day of the hand over, he nonetheless appreciated his officers and men for staying the course, sometimes with much pressure and discipline instilled in them inorder to achieve the expected feat as the Premier command.
This discipline, he attributed to some of their mentors like retired ACG Sani Abubakar, Dikko Inde-former Comptroller General and DCG Okeniyi.
Such discipline was crucial so as to be able to face any challenges that may come up.
According to the brand new ACG, the discipline was instrumental to the various achievements recorded by the command as regards trade facilitation, anti smuggling operations and sustaining its lead as the number one in revenue generation.
ACG Olomu disclosed that consequent on its mandate, the command generated more than N1.808 trillion between January and August this year. He saluted the devotion of the workforce as a major factor in this huge revenue generation.
He appealed to them to continue to sustain this tempo, while demanding that they give more support to his incoming successor so the command would continue to sing its usual success song.
‘I want to hear when I have left here, that the command is making more revenue, overshooting its target. That’s the kind of news I will love to hear’ he deposed.
He equally asked them to be loyal to the Comptroller General, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, whom he said has lifted the Service to an enviable height.
He thanked the Comptroller General for all the support he gave the command which, according to him, led to the present successes in the Customs Service since he took charge as the customs boss.
