Efforts are ongoing to streamline the B’Odogwu project to enable for quick clearance of goods as well as assist in raking in collectible revenue.

Several sub-committee meetings have been held with some Area Controllers and the Deputy Comptroller General (Tariff and Trade) in Abuja to ensure that hiccups that may impede quick clearance of cargoes are dismantled.

Comptroller Frank Onyeka disclosed that the B’Odogwu system has the ability to ensure the integrity of port operations, both in the speedy discharge of goods as well curtailing encumbrances associated with revenue generation.

The project will also enhance the experience of all the users in the trade value chain. At a function recently, the Customs high command had maintained its commitment to a transparent, efficient and inclusive rollout of the B’Odogwu clearance platform, assuring stakeholders of ongoing improvements based on their feedback.

The system, to date, is believed to have improved collection of revenue by the major Customs commands in Lagos which have maintained more than a trillion naira collection for the second and third year running.

Compt Onyeka has stated severally that his command would not only concentrate on improved revenue generation but will in turn facilitate genuine trade, while according to him, it will descend on notorious smugglers who chose to use Tin Can Island port as a trading route for prohibited items.
