UNLIKE IN FOU ‘A’, SHUAIBU HANDS OVER TO ALKALI TOMORROW IN FOU ‘B’ KADUNA WITHOUT FOOTDRAGGING
There seems to be a gale of movements of officers occasioned by the recent redeployments approved by the Comptroller General to reposition the Enforcement unit of the Customs, especially the Federal Operations Units in zones ‘A’ Ikeja and ‘B’ in kaduna.
Comptroller Ahmadu Bello Shuaibu, an anti-smuggling expert, who has superintended over the Idiroko command, as well as the FOU zone ‘B’ kaduna will be heading to the Customs Headquarters as Comptroller in charge of Enforcement.
He was also the Co-ordinator of the Comptroller General’s Strike force in Lagos, making the highest single seizure of pangolin scales worth billions of naira while he held sway in Lagos.
His redeployment which he has confirmed came to some as a big surprise, judging from the huge successes he recorded in the anti-smuggling war waged by the customs in recent years.
One thing going for Comptroller AB Shuaibu is that he sees and considers any assignment given to him as ‘willed by God’
With humility, he has won the hearts of his bosses either in Abuja or at the zonal levels. As usual with him, he says he is not wasting any extra day in handing over to his successor.
In our interaction almost a month ago, as if he had an inkling about the plans to bring him back to base (Abuja), he revealed that his handover notes were ready. ‘Infact, I am updating my handover documents with today’s activities’, he told me three weeks ago.
For Shuaibu, he has no special passion for any office or position, as according to him, he serves at the pleasure of the Comptroller General. Juxtapose this with the happening at the Federal Operations Unit in Zone A, my friend is still foot dragging.
Reason- they are still collating data/seizure profile for a one year tenure to prepare a handover note , after two weeks of redeployment. Anyhow, it is understood that the incoming Comptroller Muhammed Shuaibu and Compt Oladeji have now reached a tentative handover date holding tomorrow or Thursday, God willing.
Meanwhile, Comptroller Alkali will be heading to FOU zone ‘B’ kaduna to replace Compt AB Shuaibu.
Alkali, another disciplined officer has also had a stint as Co-ordinator of the Comptroller General’s squad, even as a Deputy Comptroller before his recent elevation as a full Comptroller. He last served in one of the Customs commands in Onne, Rivers state, from where he brings in enormous wealth of experience to man a wider unit in kaduna.
