

COMPT SHUAIBU ADVOCATES SYNERGY WITH SISTER AGENCIES & TRADITIONAL RULERS TO NIP SMUGGLING IN THE BUD AROUND BENIN-NIGERIA BORDERS

Comptroller MS Shuaibu of Ogun 1 command has undertaken several visits to sister agencies as well as traditional rulers to seek for their collaboration in the war against smuggling. He was at the palace of the Alake of England. The visit is also to reaffirm his commitment to end incessant clashes between his officers and smugglers and to improve economic growth as well as strengthen security along Nigeria’s borders with the Republic of Benin.
The strategic visit intends to promote long-term cooperation and synergy through intelligence sharing and suppression of smuggling activities within the South-west region of the country. The traditional rulers he met with in Ogun State, includes His Royal Majesty (HRM) Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbagland, Oba Kehinde Gbadewole Olugbenle, His Royal Majesty (HRM) Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo CFR.
Comptroller M S Shuaibu emphasized on the vital roles traditional leaders play within their communities in preserving peace, order and security, he conveyed his sincere gratitude for the steadfast support. He said that to improve border security and successfully fight against smuggling, it is crucial to draw on the experience and legacy of long-standing institutions. The visit also included productive talks with sister security agencies in the state, which highlighted the necessity of strong and ongoing cooperation between security operations to combat the threat of smuggling and other cross-border crimes.
By exchanging intelligence, resources and expertise, Nigeria Customs Service and other security operations can form a strong front against those that jeopardize Nigeria national security and economic stability. The strategic importance of the borders between Ogun State Nigeria, Benin Republic and the need for a united front in the battle against economic crimes, such as smuggling, were acknowledged by the Controller.
In cooperation with security agencies, traditional rulers and youth leaders, “Nigeria Customs Service will keep using innovative and resourceful strategies to safeguard the nations borders and promote economic growth”, Shuaibu pledged.
The CAC also visited other security agencies; The Nigeria Police Force (NPF), National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Nigeria Immigration services (NIS), Department of State Security Services (DSS), which he was warmly welcomed and assured of continuous support and collaboration. Shuaibu was upbeat about the visit ‘s accomplishments and the impressive ties with security operations and traditional leaders, he urged for continued collaboration, cooperation and dedication to addressing any obstacles.
He reaffirms his commitment to working together with a common goal to accomplish. In his closing remarks, he advised economic saboteurs (smugglers) to look for another means of business as Ogun 1 Area Command is poised to track down and prosecute offenders .
