

SEQUEL TO INTEL BY ONSA; D/COMPT ALIYU OF OPERATION WHIRLWIND INTERCEPTS N700 MILLION TRUCKS LADEN WITH AGO DIESEL HEADING TO CHAD

Following a full proof intelligence from the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), on the illegal movement of petroleum products towards Chad Republic, a crack team of customs officers led by the National Co-ordinator of Operation Whirlwind, have intercepted five trucks laden with Automotive Gas oil ( Diesel). The products and means of conveyance are worth more than N700 million.
National Co-ordinator of Operation Whirlwind, Deputy Comptroller Abubakar Lucky Aliyu who was in Maiduguri to perfect the seizure said the seizure is now in custody of the Customs command in Borno state.
He pointedly noted that the Operation Whirlwind, the Borno customs command as well as the Customs Intelligence Unit ( CIU) were operationally pro-active in actualizing this feat. In his words, the National Co-ordinator deposed;

Sequel to an Intelligence Report on n suspected movement of five trucks laden with AGO from Nigeria to Chad Republic, a Team of Operations Whirlwind headed by the National Coordinator Intercepted and Evacuated the Trucks with the aid of Borno/Yobe Command, CIU, Customs Police, JTF and ONSA. The said SEIZURES are deposited in the command pending further investigations.
Aliyu who has given petroleum smugglers a nightmare since his assumption of of office more than seven months ago stated the war on petroleum smugglers is unwavering, adding that his men would not leave any stone unturned in stemming the ugly tide.
According to him, smuggling of petroleum products remains an economic crime, noting that the intervention of the Customs leadership led by the indefatigable Comptroller General, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, PhD, MFR, has assisted in stabilizing the National economy.

Aliyu disclosed that investigations have commenced in earnest to unravel those behind the illegal movement of the five trucks laden with the diesel products. It will also determine where they were loaded and exact point of destination.
Aliyu was also gratified with the intel provided by the Office of the National Security Adviser, noting that his team will not fail with this kind of patriotic support.
