CUSTOMS DOING EVERYTHING POSSIBLE TO GIVE THE NATION BEST WORKFORCE THROUGH QUALITY TRAINING – ACG ONYEKA
The Nigeria customs service (NCS) is doing all it can to give the nation the best workforce through quality training.
Comptroller General of the Service, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, PhD, MFR, said today at a retreat for the trainers of the new officers just recruited.
Represented by the Assistant Comptroller General (ACG) in charge of Human Resources Development (HRD), Frank Onyeka, he said the need to bring the trainers together is to ensure that best discipline is instilled in them, while giving maintaining the policies of the agency as a member of the global customs.
Onyeka noted that the experience garnered over time from this training serves several generations of the customs workforce, noting that he is excited today that some of the officers he took part in their training are now acting Area Controllers.
‘The knowledge you will acquire here, as a group, will assist a lot in elevating the institution as well as its personnel. He noted that that the knowledge to be imparted in the officers will make them better positioned to pass it to the rank and file.
He stated that the Comptroller General is desirous of the best standard in personnel and would do everything humanly possible to maintain the current level of team spirit which he noted has taken the service to greater heights.
ACG Onyeka said the convergence of these trainers at once would deliver the true knowledge, sharing of experience as well as networking amongst them.
In his own contribution, DCG Itodo rtd also charged the group of trainers to be free to discuss anything without holding back. In such a way, grey areas will be exposed and solutions will not be far-fetched.
The Commandant of the Customs Training College, Ikeja, Deputy Comptroller P. Ita said they should drop any knowledge they have acquired and come into the retreat fresh in order to learn more. She noted that no person has a monopoly of knowledge, as no one can know it all.
They are all united that by the time the participants leave the venue on Friday, they would have been refreshed with new things, new policies and adequate discipline to back it up.
They noted that the global customs is being modernized every day, and that officers have to be part and parcel of the modernization.
Chief Superintendent Sulaiman, the image maker of the Premier customs command anchored the retreat as co-master of ceremony.
