ACG OLADEJI WAKES UP FROM SLUMBER; RESHUFFLES ALL COMMANDERS OF OPERATION WHIRLWIND NATIONWIDE, SIX WEEKS AFTER EJIBUNU’S EXIT
There seems to be a deliberate attempt to breathe life into the Operation Whirlwind which has been in comatose since the exit of the anti-smuggling Czar and first National Co-ordinator of the Team, ACG HK Ejibunu six weeks ago.
Since Ejibunu left meritoriously on August 15, 2025 the Team has not been able to find a strong foothold on its operations.
But the new Co-ordinator, ACG IK Oladeji, having slumbered for awhile, has just initiated a total reshuffling of all the Commanders nationwide to achieve his own vision and to measure up with the feats recorded by his predecessor.
Impeccable sources disclosed that the Comptroller General, Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, has also appointed one Deputy Comptroller Aliyu as the Deputy National Co-ordinator.
Oladeji was said have charged the operatives that this time around, unparalleled seizure profile must be their watch words, inorder to keep the tempo with which the Team has been known for.
At the moment, no new officers are introduced to the Team as the old ones are thought to be better placed to achieve set objectives.
The old officers some of whom have been around in the last 15 months are said to be better to dismantle the new antics posed by petroleum smugglers.
Oladeji was also quoted as warning officers to stick to seizures and forsake collecting bribes, as according to him, he would not be ready to defend anyone caught collecting bribe to undermine national security.
The seven Commanders shuffled include those of zones A, B, C& D. Consequently, Assistant Compt AZ Abubakar heads to zone A, Deputy Compt Edet heads to zone B, Assistant Compt Obikoya holds forth at zone C while Deputy Compt Ali takes charge at zone D.
The Oyo axis is superintended by Chief Supt Elamah, Assistant Compt Yahaya takes over Kano/Jigawa zone while Assistant Compt Hussaini commands the Niger/Kwara zone.
All redeployments take immediate effect.
Reading the riot act to them at a meeting, the Co-ordinator charged;
*officers and men must ensure proper handling of weapons in their custody
* you must adhere strictly to the Operation Whiirlwind (SOPs)
* you are to respect the rights of individuals and the supremacy of the Rules of law.
* you are to adhere strictly to all humanitarian laws.
* Any operative(s) who have genuine and vital reason(s) to travel must obtain official permission (pass) in writing before proceeding with the journey.
* you must not compromise or be involved in any criminal act such as aiding and abetting and extortion.
* you are to swiftly report all occurrences/incidence to your various zonal commanders accordingly.
* All PMS seizures must be real time reported via Geospatial platform within 10-20 minutes of interception for proper documentation and transparency.
* you are to maintain high standard of ethical and required discipline at all time.
* ACG Oladeji was said to have promised to encourage the operatives achieve their set goals but fell short of addressing their months of unpaid allowances.
