VIRAL VIDEO ON MALTREATMENT: WE HAVE ARRESTED THE ERRING OFFICERS—KOLADE
Seme/Badagry area command said it has identified two erring officers said to have maltreated some members of the public as shown in a viral video.
The command’s helmsman, Comptroller Kayode Kolade said they identified officers have been handed over to the customs police for further investigation .
Represented by the Deputy comptroller in charge of Enforcement, Istifanus Musa, the command stated that preliminary investigation that two officers, namely, Superintendent of customs TA Inemugha and Assistant Superintendent of Customs 11, GO Aboribo have been arrested.
‘The behavior of these officers does not reflect the professional practice of the service, especially now that the service is committed to holding its officers to the highest standard of integrity and professionalism’
Kolade noted that the Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, has condemned in strong terms the unethical conduct of these officers and has directed that the officers should be to the customs Headquarters for a full-scale investigation and decisive disciplinary measures.
The complainants have also been requested to make themselves available to assist in the ongoing investigations.
The Area controller deposed that the service remains committed to ensuring transparency in all its operational mandates, adding that it will not condone any form of misconduct within its ranks and will continue to work for the overall interest of the public.
