The Zone B Headquarters of Nigeria Customs Service in Kaduna has completed a joint walk exercise with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Kaduna Zonal Command to sensitise people against corruption in Kaduna on Thursday, 11 July 2024.
The walk which was in commemoration of the African Anti Corruption Day included Officers and Men from the Zonal Headquarters Zone “B”, Kaduna Area Command, the Federal Operations Unit Zone B and officials of the Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crime Commission in Kaduna.
The event which centered around the theme “Effective Whistleblowing for a Corruption-Free Nigeria,” commenced at approximately 0645 hours with a procession from the EFCC Zonal headquarters at Wurno Road, Kaduna North LGA of Kaduna State, covering a distance of about 7km around Kaduna town. Other participants included representatives from the State Government, Ministries/Departments from the state, Military, Police & Para-Military Agencies among which are the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Air Force, Nigeria Police Force, Independent Corrupt Practices Commission, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency among other, the Corps Members, as well as the media.
Zonal Coordinator of Zone B, ACG SK Dangalidima while addressing Officers and men at the Zonal Headquarters of the NCS in Kaduna before their departure to the EFCC Zonal Directorate urged them to promote the virtue of compliance at all times.
ACG Dangaladima who was represented by Assistant Comptroller SU Faruk, Ag. DC Enforcement of Federal Operations Unit Zone B, commended the participants for the large turnout and active participation in the walk.
Stops were made at every bus stop, where members of the public were educated on the ills of corruption and calls for the collective commitment of all participating agencies to combat corruption and unethical behaviors.
Upon returning to the EFCC Zonal headquarters, the Zonal Director, Dr. Benedict Ubi Fsi, fife, spsp, delivered an address focusing on the significance of Whistleblowing. In his discourse, he emphasized that “We cannot win the war against corruption through lip service, emotional outburst or mere mob campaigns. There is a need for commitment, passion, consistency and credibility of intelligence. Every whistle blown must point towards truth and evidential proofs. There is punishment for false claims and misleading intelligence.”
The Zonal Coordinator Zone ‘B’, ACG SK Dangaladima emphasize the importance of inter-agency collaboration in the fight against corruption. He stressed that the security agencies and all Nigerians must collectively fight the monster (corruption) for economic development to be achieved in Nigeria.
