COMPT OLADEJI GIVES ‘BEST OPERATIONS OFFICER AWARD’ TO SUPT AKABUSI FOR HIS GALLANTRY
Eager to encourage officers of the Federal Operations Unit (FOU A), to make mouth-watering seizures, the Unit’s boss, Compt Oladeji has instituted monthly Awards to recognize those who have distinguished themselves in their areas of jurisdiction.
The maiden Award was clinched by Superintendent of Customs, JZ Akabusi who is in charge of Ijebu Ode. He was bestowed with ‘the best operations officer for the month of May’
Compt Oladeji summed up the reason for the award thus * in recognition of your outstanding service and commitment to the Unit’. The Controller noted that ‘ your gallantry and dedication as the best operations officer is worthy of emulation’
Supt Akabusi was one of the five hardworking officers of the Unit previously recommended by the former Unit’s Controller, Hussein Ejibunu for special promotions, which immediate past Deputy Comptroller General (DCG) Abba- Kura made formal presentation to the Comptroller General, but yet to be acted upon.
Akabusi has no doubt sustained the heat against economic saboteurs in the last few weeks of Oladeji’s assumption of office, recording major seizures such as the interception of 1500 pieces of bulletproof vests which were brought into the country without end-user certificates.
Also, in the last three weeks, he seized a trailer-load of rice containing more than 500 bags of foreign parboiled rice, as well as trucks of second -hand clothing.
Akabusi has won this award back to back as he was declared the most outstanding officer for last year. With the discovery and recognition of this kind of officers by the brand new FOU A helmsman, there is no doubt that he will go far in his war against smuggling in the western zone.
