WE WILL NOT FAIL YOU; NEW NIMASA DG ASSURES STAKEHOLDERS
Maritime stakeholders converged at the Eko hotel in Lagos to chart an agenda for the new Director General of the NIMASA, Dr Dayo Moberola.
The automation of the the ship registry as well as the inclusion of qualified Nigerians to run the affairs of the country’s maritime industry were some of the issues that took center stage. Other speakers also sued for gender balance in the appointment of officials in the industry.
It was the opinion of many of the stakeholders present that there are lots of quacks who are calling the shots in the industry while they charged the NIMASA boss to ensure the implementation of the Cabotage vessels funds so as to empower local ship operators with funds to own vessels.
Responding, the Director General pledged to quickly give vent to all the suggestions, promising that automation of the ship Registry would be given adequate attention soon. ‘Automation of the ship registry will happen quickly and we move to look at gender inclusion’
We have learnt from the past DGs and we are going to be calling you regularly for knowledge sharing. What we have learnt today means we would look at all the inputs of stakeholders so that we can move the industry in the right direction’
Moberola noted that they would align with the vision of President Tinubu and the minister of Marine and Blue Economy if they move achieve the expected dividends.
