THE RETRAINING OF 66 OFFICERS ON WEAPONS HANDLING; A HIGHPOINT OF EJIBUNU’S ADMINISTRATION @ FOU ‘A’

The retraining of 66 officers of the Federal Operations Unit, zone A at the customs Training college Ikeja was the high point of the achievements of the former Comptroller Hussein Kehinde Ejibunu’s administration at the Flagship Unit.

A very busy Friday, indeed, the day marked the passing out ceremony of the 66 officers who were on a one month intensive course on weapons handling.

In an impromptu speech, the former Controller stated that the course was inevitable to eliminate issues of killings, accidental discharge and generally improve human capacity in line with the policy of the Comptroller General, Adewale Adeniyi, MFR.

Ejibunu noted that with the knowledge they have acquired, anti smuggling operations will be seamless henceforth.
According to the curriculum the officers were exposed to, they were said to have been introduced to global best practices in escort duties. They also received training on ‘ orderly duties’

They were systematically exposed to the use of NP 29 Naringo pistols, in fact they have the ability for tactical reloading of magazines with ease.

In a chat, the Commandant of the Customs Training college, Ikeja, Deputy Compt HH Hadison stated that the officers are now conversant with the Rules of Engagement (ROE).

Other trainings given to them, he noted bothered on check point exercises, while they were made to embark on a study tour to Seme- Gbaji corridor before passing out.

Hadison commended the former Controller of the Federal Operations Unit, Ikeja—Compt Ejibunu , and called on other Area controllers to follow suit by sending their officers for this all important course which he also corroborated, is in line with the Comptroller General’s efforts towards capacity building. He noted that this training is the beginning of greater things in the customs.

Last Friday, the immediate past Controller of the Federal Operations Unit, zone A Lagos, Comptroller Hussein kehinde Ejibunu has disclosed that his unit made seizures worth N35.9 billion in the two and half years he held sway at the Unit.

Briefing newsmen during a hand over of the unit to the new helmsman- Compt Oladeji, he stated that the unit under him intercepted 222,285 bags of foreign parboiled rice ( equivalent of 370 trailer loads).

Ejibunu noted that more than N2.256 billion was recovered as revenue through the issuance of Demand notices (DN).
