ANTI- SMUGGLING OFFICERS OF FOU ‘A’ MAY GET SPECIAL PROMOTION
At least five anti smuggling operatives of the Federal Operations Unit in Zone A will soon be elevated for their hardwork in the fight against smuggling.
The Deputy Comptroller General in charge of Enforcement, Abba- Kura made this known recently at an award ceremony to honour the officers.
He stated that the first step was to recognise their efforts which have yielded in the seizure of several goods at the Federal Operations Unit zone A. According to him, the names would be compiled for special promotion.
The service, he noted would not allow officers who have contributed so much to the current feats achieved not to be recognised.
The Controller of the Unit, Kehinde Ejibunu had earlier recommended no less than five officers for special award and promotion as a means of encouragement.
The likes of Supt Akabusi, Assistant Compt Egunjobi and Assistant Comptroller Moses Adewole have severally been presented to the Press during media briefings as officers behind the major seizures in the zone.
They have maintained that their achievements have been intelligence-driven which they noted has yielded expected results.
Just last year, seizure profile at the FOU A was valued at more than eight billion naira.
This positive outlook is attributable to the special dedication to duty of these officers.
It is on record that the new leadership at the customs House places premium on reward for hardwork.
