CUSTOMS RENOVATES SENIOR OFFICERS’ MESS AT KADUNA COMMAND

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), through the Kaduna Area Command, has commissioned a fully renovated Senior Officers’ Mess located at the Kabala Doki Customs Barracks, Kaduna, as part of sustained efforts to enhance officers’ welfare, operational efficiency, and morale.

The commissioning ceremony, which took place on Wednesday, 17 December 2025, was conducted under the leadership of the Customs Area Controller, Kaduna Area Command, Comptroller Sa’ad Hassan. The facility was formally commissioned by the Zonal Coordinator, Zone B, Assistant Comptroller General of Customs, Nsika Umoh, who represented the Comptroller-General of Customs at the event.

The renovated Mess has been upgraded to provide a befitting, functional, and conducive environment for official engagements, fitness activities, and social interaction among senior officers, thereby supporting effective service delivery and esprit de corps within the Command.

In her remarks, the Zonal Coordinator commended the Customs Area Controller and his management team for their foresight, initiative, and prudent utilisation of resources in delivering a project that directly impacts officers’ welfare. She noted that the project aligns with the broader reform agenda of the Comptroller-General of Customs, which prioritises improved working conditions, professionalism, and discipline as key drivers of enhanced revenue generation, trade facilitation, and border security.

Also speaking at the event, Comptroller Sa’ad Hassan expressed appreciation to the Zonal Coordinator, Assistant Comptroller General of Customs Nsika Umoh, Assistant Comptroller General Idris Abba-Aji, and other senior officers present for their continuous guidance and support. He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to prioritising welfare-driven initiatives and urged officers to ensure proper maintenance of the facility in line with the core values and standards of the Nigeria Customs Service.

The commissioning ceremony featured an inspection of the renovated complex, a brief formal programme, and a group photograph with senior officers, other ranks, and invited guests, underscoring the Command’s collective commitment to professionalism, welfare, and excellence in service delivery.
