YOU MUST REMAIN DEDICATED TO OUR MANDATES; SHUAIBU CHARGES NEWLY PROMOTED OFFICERS
Area Controller of Ogun 1 Customs command in Idiroko, Comptroller MS Shuaibu yesterday charged newly promoted officers at the command to ensure that they stick to the core mandates of the service.
While decorating about 60 officers of the command elevated to their next ranks, he said their new positions demand a lot of dedication, sacrifice and more determination, warning that the service would not have the patience to tolerate unethical practices.
According to him, ‘It gives me immense pleasure to welcome you all to this auspicious occasion of the decoration ceremony for the newly promoted officers and men of the Ogun I Area Command. Today, we gather not only to celebrate these well-deserved promotions but also to acknowledge the hard work, commitment, and resilience of our officers who have consistently upheld the values and objectives of the Nigeria Customs Service’.
He congratulates the newly promoted officers and men. Your promotion is a recognition of your professionalism, dedication, and outstanding performance. It is also a reflection of the Service’s confidence in your ability to take on greater responsibilities and deliver even more in your respective roles. Promotions are not handed out lightly, they are earned. The rigorous selection process ensures that only those who meet the highest standards of competence, integrity, and commitment are chosen. You have proven yourselves worthy of this honour, and I urge you to see this promotion as a call to even greater service to the nation.
As you wear your new ranks today, remember that every stripe, badge, and insignia signify responsibility and leadership. It is not just a symbol of authority but also a call to duty to serve Nigeria with integrity, courage, and selflessness. The expectations of the Service, the nation, and the public are now even higher. You are not just representatives of the Nigeria Customs Service; you are role models for your colleagues, subordinates, and the communities we serve. Let your conduct always reflect the core values of the Service: integrity, diligence, and patriotism.
He offered three important charges as you assume your new roles:
a. Be Exemplary Leaders. Leadership is not about ranks alone; it is about influence, guidance, and the ability to inspire others to excel. Lead by example and be a source of motivation to your colleagues.
b. Remain Dedicated to Our Mandate. The core mandates of the Nigeria Customs Service—revenue generation, anti-smuggling operations, and trade facilitation—are critical to the economic growth and security of our nation. Let these mandates guide your every action as you contribute to the realization of our goals.
c. Embrace Continuous Learning. Promotion comes with new challenges, and staying ahead requires continuous learning and adaptability. Equip yourselves with the knowledge, skills, and tools necessary to excel in your new roles.
The Controller used the opportunity to express his profound gratitude to the Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR, and the entire management of the Nigeria Customs Service for their commitment to staff welfare and career progression. Their visionary leadership continues to inspire us and provide the enabling environment for officers and men to thrive. He also appreciate the sacrifices of every officer and man of the Ogun I Area Command. Your collective efforts and teamwork have contributed to the successes we have achieved as a Command. To those who were not promoted this time, do not be discouraged. Promotion comes from God, continue to work hard, remain committed, and your time will surely come.
In conclusion, he once again congratulate our newly promoted officers and men. Your elevation is a testament to your past achievements and an encouragement to do more. As you wear your new ranks, remember the immense trust placed in you by the Service and our great nation. Let this trust guide you in all that you do. Together, let us continue to uphold the principles of the Nigeria Customs Service and ensure that we contribute meaningfully to the development, security, and prosperity of our dear country.
Thank you, and may God bless the Nigeria Customs Service, Ogun I Area Command, and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Congratulations once again, and enjoy your day of celebration.
