There are strong indications that the acting Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR has been confirmed as substantive Comptroller General.
Impeccable sources from the Presidency confirmed this to This PAGE Newspaper.
Appointed in June, exactly three months ago, the new Customs helmsman has worked very hard to reposition the government agency.
In so short a time, he has traversed several states of the country building bridges while putting strategies to increase the revenue base of the service.
Adeniyi, a core officer has also visited almost all the borders sensitising border communities on the dangers of smuggling while promising to improve on the service’s corporate Social Responsibility. The new CG will no doubt take the service to unprecedented heights now that he has been confirmed.
Great feat for the entire workforce to have produced one of their own as the Comptroller General, eight years after an ‘outsider’s incursion into the management.
