KIKELOMO ADENIYI CHARGES OFFICERS’ WIVES TO GIVE QUALITY SUPPORT TO THEIR HUSBANDS!; AS COWA MEMBERS EULOGIZE COMPT SHUAIBU FOR HIS HUGE SUPPORT

Wife of the Comptroller General of the Customs service, Mrs Kikelomo Adeniyi has charged wives of customs officers not to be rebellious to their husbands but to remain supportive so that they can achieve the mandates given to them by the government.

She admonished them during the empowerment programme of the Federal Operations Unit, (FOU) zone A, even as the Controller of the Unit, Compt MS Shuaibu urged the women to make judicious use of the meager resources provided and see themselves as active partners in national development.

Mrs Adeniyi who doubles as the president of the customs wives Association (COWA) noted that when a woman is empowered, the nation is also empowered.

Noting that they should take special care about their health, she stated that they should run special checks like blood pressure test, sugar test, etcetera,noting with good health, all other responsibilities can be achieved.

On the new focus of the COWA, she revealed that ‘we want to go beyond giving sewing machines and catering facilities’ We are going green, we will soon be learning how to recycle so many things’

According to the COWA President,they are aligning with the First Lady on the renewed hope agenda, adding ‘we want to get investment opportunities from Brazil , establish a research training centre for the COWA.

We need to stop talking local, but go international especially now that the Comptroller General is the Chairman of the World Customs Organization (WCO) council.

She and her members heaped praises on the Controller of the FOU A for very quality support in almost all proposals sent to him. They prayed for great future for him.

Compt Shuaibu assured them that the unit remains deeply committed to expanding the COWA programme, by strengthening its reach and enhancing its capacity to support families.
Noting that together they will continue to build a resilient association that will stand firmly behind the service’s frontline defenders.

He maintained that the empowerment programme is designed to address the economic and social challenges faced by officers’ wives by equipping them with vocational skills, supporting small scale businesses and providing training in makeup, sewing among others. ‘As we all know, the strength of our great institution lies not only in dedication of its members but also in the wellbeing and support of their families.

Several sewing machines, washing machines, catering facilities as well as money were distributed to members, widows and retirees.
